Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our commercial and industrial spaces. This energetic role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks with precision and efficiency to ensure a welcoming and hygienic environment for staff, visitors, and clients alike. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to facilities maintenance. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the upkeep of our facilities while developing valuable custodial skills. Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies. Handle chemical agents safely, following all chemical handling safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination. Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, and other floor care equipment to maintain high standards of cleanliness and shine. Conduct heavy lifting tasks in accordance with safe lifting practices when moving furniture, supplies, or equipment. Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces, waste disposal, and ensuring proper storage of cleaning supplies. Follow safety protocols at all times during cleaning activities to ensure personal safety and that of colleagues. Assist with general facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or reporting larger issues for prompt resolution. Skills Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles with knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures. Familiarity with cleaning equipment including floor buffers, vacuums, mops, and related tools. Ability to handle chemical agents safely while adhering to chemical handling safety procedures. Strong manual handling skills with an understanding of safe lifting practices for heavy objects. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed. Experience in industrial cleaning or porter roles is advantageous for managing diverse environments. Knowledge of sanitation standards and facility maintenance best practices ensures consistent quality in cleaning routines.
