Job Description
This opportunity is at Hopewell City Schools Substitute Custodian An ESS substitute custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school facilities, ensuring every school day runs smoothly and students can focus on learning. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment . Responsibilities Perform maintenance duties before, during, and after school hours Clean all areas of school buildings according to district standards, including floors, windows, furniture, and restrooms Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate areas of the building Complete grounds keeping duties
GENERAL DUTIES
(May not include all duties perf ormed) Locks and unlocks doors, locks all windows and secures building. Polices grounds and parking lot of paper and debris. Raises and lowers flags. Sweeps and wet and dry mops floors. Waxes floors and operates buffing machines. Vacuums, shampoos and cares for all carpeted areas. Washes windows, assembles furniture, polishes furniture, and dusts. Cleans, disinfects rest rooms. Cleans and sets up the cafeteria and buffs floor as assigned. Makes minor repairs to building, furniture and equipment. Replaces light bulbs. Loads, unloads supplies, equipment into/from trucks. Cuts grass, trims hedges, and cleans sidewalks and curbs; shovels snow, removes ice, etc. Performs set-up tasks for indoor athletic events- wrestling, basketball etc. Checks stock and advises the Head Custodian of needs. Folds and unfolds chairs, moves and transports furniture, equipment, boxed textbooks, and other supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, manually or with mechanical assistance. Performs related duties as required or assigned by Principal/Assistant Principal/Head Custodian.WORK CONDITIONS
Work requires regular lifting, stooping, bending, and sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform all required tasks. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and climate conditions. Ability to lift, move, transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with manual or mechanical assistance and utilizing appropriate safety gear as per OSHA guidelines.
