111 JOB SUMMARY:
Performs custodial duties and monitors the work of custodians engaged in maintaining the school plant in a clean and orderly condition so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. May train the custodial staff in cleaning procedures, the use of equipment and oversee the implementation of safety regulations. Must be able to work alternate shifts to include 2 nd shift. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Organize, manage and assist the cleaning function of all usable space in the school, to include classrooms, offices, laboratories, clinics, bathrooms, lockers and showers, dining areas, storage areas, mechanical rooms, halls and other common areas. Maintain entrances, sidewalks, playgrounds, hazards and potential hazards in parking lots and immediate perimeter around the school Supervise the activities of all workers engaged in custodial activities in the school. Assign task as required, Check the maintenance and proper utilization of supplies and equipment. Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable cleaning supplies, tools and equipment. Maintain accurate records. Ability to calculate time for Payroll purposes. Train custodians and inspect work daily to insure proper procedures are followed Sweep, mop, scrub, buff, strip and refinish hard floors, Vacuum and shampoo carpet, wash walls, clean windows and glass, trash removal, properly clean all areas of the school. Inspect the plant facilities to ensure heat, air conditioners, plumbing and lighting is operating properly. Identify and report existing or potential maintenance and safety problems via work orders to be repaired. Receive, distribute and store school supplies and equipment, secure and maintain storage spaces in accordance with fire regulations. Conduct training, counseling and performance evaluation of the custodial staff. Resolve staff issues when they arise. Communicate with the school administration daily to receive information and instructions on activities, set-ups and various functions and events that the custodial staff is to support. Ability to effectively delegate work to all staff. Perform other related duties as required. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Custodial work requires the exertion of up to 20-40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 15 pounds frequently, and a reasonable amount of force daily to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lift grasping, and repetitive motions; visual accuracy is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the custodian is subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions. There are frequent interruptions, changing priorities, heavy duty lifting, and work in inclement weather (rain, snow, sleet, hail, etc.). Work may require climbing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions of hands, fingers, arms, and legs. Work may require climbing stairs/metal grate flooring. There is exposure to cleaning chemicals, potential electrical hazards, and use of heavy duty, high powered floor cleaning equipment. There is exposure to various amounts of dust and dirt, bodily waste (i.e. urine and feces), obnoxious odors, cleaning chemicals, heights (on occasion in excess of 72"), potential electrical hazards, and use of heavy duty, high powered cleaning equipment. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, gripping, feeling, and repetitive motions; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required use of measuring devices, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is subject to extreme heat, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Possession of a high school diploma or GED One year experience as a Head Custodian or equivalent position or five years experience as a custodian, preferably in a school environment Ability to supervise the work of others Knowledge of basic repair techniques in electricity, plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance necessary to keep the facility safe and healthy for students and staff APPLICATION PROCEDURE
