Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for an evening Senior Custodian position that is available at Auburn High School for the 2026-2027 school year.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The senior custodian is required to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and staff members. Requirements include performance and oversight of cleaning and general maintenance of the school building and its grounds. The senior custodian assumes responsibility for opening and closing the school. Other duties include stocking and ordering supplies, completing seasonal tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Custodial Services Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment

Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength

Ability to read basic operating instructions and the ability to complete inventory and requisition forms

Ability to cooperate with other staff members

Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment

Ability to respond to emergencies in support of students and school operations

Have the physical ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects (40+ lbs.) as needed

Dependability and punctuality

Ability to support school functions and community activities as deemed necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate in Supervision, two years of successful leadership or supervision that required planning and organizing skills and abilities

Ability to oversee other custodians to ensure duties are completed

Ability to use a computer and input data

Knowledge of "Team Cleaning" and "Team Cleaning" concepts

SALARY:

$37,752.00

  • $66,198.

36 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience and prorated to start date
