The Carpet Cleaning and Water Extraction Technician performs specialized cleaning and water removal services to meet the needs of residential and commercial projects. This role is responsible for operating extraction and cleaning equipment, ensuring proper drying techniques, and maintaining the professional appearance of SERVPRO equipment and assigned service vehicles. By delivering high-quality, efficient, and consistent work, the technician helps restore properties and represents the best in the cleaning and restoration industry.
Primary Responsibilities:
Inventory and load the work vehicle with the appropriate carpet cleaning and water extraction equipment, products, and supplies for each job. Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition and presentable. Prepare rooms and areas for cleaning and extraction, including moving furniture, setting up containment, and staging equipment. Perform water extraction services, including removal of standing water and moisture from carpets, padding, and subflooring. Conduct carpet and upholstery cleaning using industry-approved methods and equipment. Set up and monitor drying equipment such as air movers and dehumidifiers to ensure proper moisture removal. Follow all safety procedures and risk management guidelines during cleaning and extraction processes. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results. Complete end-of-day and end-of-job cleanup, ensuring the job site is left clean, dry, and orderly. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including proper storage and care of extraction and cleaning equipment. Develop expertise in carpet cleaning techniques, water extraction methods, cleaning agents, and drying equipment. Be available for occasional after-hours, emergency response, or out-of-area work as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the employer.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma/GED preferred IICRC certifications preferred Experience in cleaning, restoration, or construction preferred Strong work ethic Strong oral communication skills
Schedule:
Monday-Friday (8-hour shift)
On-call Overtime License/Certification:
Driver's License (Required)
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Regularly lifting 25 pounds independently, occasionally lifting upto 100 pounds with assistance, walking and standing for long periods, driving, sitting, climbing ladders, working at ceiling heights, working in tight spaces (i.e. crawl spaces, attics), repetitive pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects, working with and around chemicals, and working overhead. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions such as heat, noxious odors, etc. The noise level in the work environment and job sites may be loud. The employee will be required to occasionally wear a respirator for their safety.
