Janitorial Worker

Job Summary:

The City of South Boston is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitorial Technician to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across city facilities, including offices, public areas, and warehouse spaces. This position also requires the ability to support basic warehouse operations, ensuring an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Janitorial Duties:

Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizers Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures

Warehouse Support Duties:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse areas Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory Safely move materials and supplies within the warehouse Operate basic warehouse equipment (if trained), such as pallet jacks Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures

Qualifications:

Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs Strong attention to detail and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment Willingness to follow safety guidelines and city policies

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods Ability to perform repetitive tasks Comfortable working in varying environments, including warehouse settings
