What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

On-call custodians are needed at all schools, year-round. We are looking for reliable, flexible workers to assist our wonderful custodial staff at Danville, Cabot, Twinfield, Walden, Waterford, Barnet and Peacham schools.

Duties for custodian substitutes range from sweeping, scrubbing, and mopping floors; vacuuming rugs and carpets; dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork; emptying and cleaning waste receptacles; and cleaning restrooms. Other duties may be assigned. Prior cleaning experience is preferred. Payment for substitute work is

Job RequirementsMust be 18 or older to work in elementary schools and 21 or older to work in all schools. A Full background check and some online training are required. Reliable transportation is required.

At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

High School/Trade School degree preferred.
