Job Description

Thetford Elementary School is seeking to a full-time custodian starting immediately.
Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for ensuring building(s) are kept in good order in a way that will provide a safe learning environment for students.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Cleans floors: vacuums, sweeps, dust mops, washes, strips, waxes, and buffs.
  • Washes and cleans windows, walls, chalkboards, trashcans, water fountains, and sinks. Dusts furniture, fixtures, wood work.
  • Installs and maintains bulletin boards and displays, and repairs boards, artwork, frames, and displays.
  • Provides set up and break down of cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, or other spaces for special events.
  • Empties trash receptacles and picks up litter in and around buildings. Unloads materials from delivery trucks.
  • Cleans and stocks bathrooms and changes and cleans shower curtains, when appropriate.
  • Repairs/replaces ceiling tiles.
  • Cleans windows and cleans and repairs window coverings. Replaces light bulbs and changes clocks.
  • Moves furniture.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, reporting known safety hazards in the school to the supervisor.
  • Available to support students and staff during evacuation drills and emergencies.
Compensation:
This position pays between $18.72 and $28.22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined by the districts collective bargaining agreement, which considers factors such as degree level and years of service.

This compensation range is provided in accordance with Vermonts Pay Transparency Law and reflects a good faith estimate.
