The Elma School District is accepting applications for the following classified position: 2026 - 2027 Elma Elementary & Middle Schools 190 Evening Custodian

Assignment:

Mon - Fri; 8 hours per day 4 hours at Elementary School and 4 hours at

Middle School Duration:

Temporary covering leave (ends upon primary employee's return)

Benefits:

I-1433 Sick Leave, the employee will accrue at least one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked.

Washington Paid Family Medical Leave Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED Valid Washington State Driver's License WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee) Ability to work with a team and communicate with supervisors, administrators, staff, students, and the community with tact and diplomacy Demonstrate flexibility, caring, respect for others, and a sense of humor; conscientiously model the values of trust and integrity and are a positive role model for students Must have the physical stamina and strength to perform custodial duties Must have ability to lift 50 pounds Must have ability to climb stairs/ladders Must have the ability to have arms reaching above head for an extended time Able to produce a high volume of work with good quality in a timely fashion Ability to maintain confidentiality Regular attendance is an essential function of this position The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position Required Skills, Knowledge, and/or

Abilities :

Must possess sufficient physical strength and agility to perform required tasks. Heavy lifting may be required Ability to stand or work overhead for long periods of time Basic computer experience Knowledge of safe lifting procedures and all safety rules and procedures Ability to understand job functions in relationship to school district needs Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal or no supervision occasion Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in English effectively Ability to attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion Ability to troubleshoot minor problems Ability to remain flexible with changes to assignments or situations Ability to get along with co-workers, staff, and the public. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the custodial team and assist team members, administrators and public as needed Ability to use all necessary equipment and hand-tools, such as broom, mop, squeegee, buffer, polisher, vacuum, saws, drills, mowers, weed eaters, steam cleaner, etc., to perform required tasks.
