What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Position Information:
Under the general direction of the building administrator, ensures that school buildings and environment is safe, clean, functional, well-maintained, and secure.
Shift Details:
8 hours a day; 200 day calendar; shift hours are 10:00am-6:30pm
Continuing Position:
Employees have reasonable assurance of continued employment to the following school year. However, an employee's total work hours, work locations, and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.

Non-Exempt Hourly Rate:
$33.35 (hourly) (2026-2027 Salary Schedule) [Rate is effective Sept. 1, 2026]

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the physical ability to stand, bend, stoop, and twist, lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and work at heights of 45 feet. Should be able to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods.
