DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Custodial Manager, this position is responsible for performing custodial duties required to maintain the cleanliness of the campus facilities, furnishings, and equipment; providing a positive working and learning environment for the public, students, staff, and faculty of Edmonds College¿¿¿¿
Custodial Work:
Vacuum, sweep, dust mop and wet mop floors ¿ including edges, corners, and baseboards. Restock paper and soap products, deliver/stock supplies where needed. Clean and sanitize a variety of surfaces including restroom facilities, carpets and resilient floor surfaces, staircases, baseboards, markerboards, erasers, furniture, walls, windows inside and out, vents, light fixtures & diffusers, ledges, and other surfaces using appropriate methods. Extract carpets using appropriate procedures, methods, chemicals, and equipment. Scrub variety of surfaces, including floors and baseboards, furniture, corners and edges, under toilets and fixtures, etc. Complete assigned Work Orders and other duties assigned in a timely manner.
Maintenance Work:
Lift, push, pull, and transport heavy objects. Move furniture, equipment, with the use of moving appliances and/or assistance weighing up to 75 pounds to relocate or set up offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, as well as perform processes necessary to complete required tasks. Arranges tables and chairs for special events; collects and disposes of garbage and trash. Determine causes of malfunctions, and safely repair and maintain custodial machines and equipment. Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks on all machines. Must routinely use various hand tools and drills to perform duties. This is a classified position reporting to the Custodial Manager. Applications received by September 8th, 2026, at 11:59 PST will receive priority consideration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Remove trash, recycling and other miscellaneous objects from campus buildings.
Drive carts with tow trailers. Exercise safety policies and procedures at all times. Complete training, licensing, and certifications applicable to responsibilities. Maintain hand tools and other mechanical equipment relevant to maintenance/custodial work.
Submit requests for supplies and equipment.
Manage daily work orders in the database. Able to lift 50 pounds and handle larger weights of equipment, materials, debris, and supplies with assistance or appropriate equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current driver¿s license.
Physical ability to perform the essential functions. Ability to accomplish repetitive tasks. (See Conditions of Employment section for additional requirements.)

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position requires working indoors with exposure to climbing ladders, operating scissor lift, working at heights, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing. The ability to lift 50 pounds and move 100 pounds or more is required. The ability to manipulate hand equipment requiring repetitive arm-hand movements is essential. Operating a motor vehicle requiring a standard driver's license and other types of heavy equipment is essential. Cleaning up minor spills that may require PPE gear is required. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English, and will include communication with people for whom English is a second language.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time, 40 hours per week, dayshift 5:00AM - 1:30PM, Monday¿Friday. This position is considered an essential personnel position that is required to work when needed during events such as snow storms or emergencies related to Grounds issues even when the college is closed.
COMPENSATION
Salary range 38. Beginning salary is $47,004 - $50,412 annually, with progressive increases to $55,596, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, 3 personal leave days, and 14 vacation days per year (incremental increases to 24 vacation days per year).
