JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:
Event Custodian (On Call)

UNIT CLASSIFICATION

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The job of Event Custodian is done for the purpose/s of cleaning the facilities following school, community or athletic events and keeping the building and grounds clean, neat, and orderly.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•: Clean all areas following after school, evening and weekend events. Review rentals on the facility rental system (School Dude). Assist in setting up facilities for special events. Set up sports equipment, chairs, etc. Check all paper towel dispensers and make certain there are enough for the event. Check toilet tissue holder to make certain there is enough and/or restock during event. Provide event and cleaning support during event as needed. Move furniture or equipment as directed by the Facilities coordinator or event coordinator. Return Furniture to proper placement after event. Clean bleachers or auditorium seats if necessary. Clean restrooms, walls, and floors as necessary. Operate Equipment to groom turf. Pick up trash around sidewalks, parking lots, including use of the sweeper. Empty outside garbage cans as needed. Check for and report any vandalism inside and outside. Assist with grounds care involving mowing, trimming. Assist with snow removal as needed, using hand tools or power equipment such as snow blowers, utv and lawn mowers with attachments. Periodic cleaning of lighting fixtures, walls, windows, furnishings, appliances, whiteboards, bulletin boards throughout the district. Unclog toilets, urinals, and drinking fountains as needed. Work as needed/scheduled in Night Custodian capacity (see Night Custodian Job Description). Work as needed/scheduled in Head Custodian capacity (see Head Custodian Job Description). Use and knowledge of basic computer skills, check work orders, time sheets, safety training and district online platforms. Use and knowledge of all cleaning equipment including riding equipment. Use appropriate PPE as needed. Other related duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Read and respond to work-related emails as necessary. Complete all required training. Participate in Summer Cleaning as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Previous custodial experience is preferred. Required computer skills include assessing and responding to email. Knowledge of basic hand tools is required. Licenses/Special Requirements Valid Washington State Driver's license Clear driving abstract required Social Security Card WSP/FBI fingerprint/background clearance
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Ability to communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities; physical stamina; ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Interacts regularly with various custodial staff, members of the community and other district employees. Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed at various sites (indoors or outdoors) within the district. The job incumbent is often required to move from location to location to fill in for absent employees and to cover district events. Hours and days are subject to change based on District needs. The incumbent must be available to work weekdays and weekends.
