A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

The School District of Amery is now accepting applications for custodians to work year-round, Monday through Friday. These positions have 2nd shift hours on student contact days (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) and daytime hours during the summer and during other school breaks. These custodial positions are full-time, year-round positions with full benefits including health, dental, paid time off and vacation, paid holidays, state retirement, and more. Cleaning and/or maintenance experience is preferred but not required - paid training is provided. Hourly wage starts at $16.25 but may be increased based on experience.

Qualified candidates must:

Be able to lift, carry and move a minimum of 50 pounds Be able to demonstrate basic computer skills Be able to work independently while cleaning or performing maintenance Demonstrate ability to use all cleaning and maintenance equipment, materials and supplies needed for the position Exhibit interpersonal skills necessary to work with children and the public Be able to maintain confidentiality of staff, students and families Have a happy, positive demeanor and enjoy working with children, parents and fellow employees The School District of Amery is a public PK-12 district of approximately 1,200 students in four buildings on one campus. Amery is one of the highest achieving districts in Western Wisconsin. The district encompasses 190+ square miles in Polk and St. Croix Counties, approximately one hour from Minneapolis/St. Paul. The city of Amery is known as the "City of Lakes" and is comprised of four lakes and the Apple River.
