This role reports directly to the Executive Director or designee, with day-to-day work coordinated by the Facilities Manager. This is a part-time, hourly position, up to 29.5 hours per week, worked on an afternoon/evening schedule year-round (12 months), with potential for additional hours and seasonal project work during school breaks and summer months. The individual serving in this role is responsible for the following (among other duties as assigned): Restrooms & Locker Rooms Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, and shower stalls Empty and reline trash and feminine hygiene receptacles Check and restock soap, toilet paper, and paper towel dispensers Sweep, spot-mop, and perform scheduled floor-machine deep cleaning Report plumbing, locker, or fixture damage promptly Classrooms Empty and reline classroom trash and recycling receptacles Sweep and spot-clean classroom floors; perform scheduled deeper cleaning as assigned Wipe down desks, tables, and high-touch surfaces Report maintenance issues (lighting, HVAC, furniture) promptly Hallways, Commons & Entryways Sweep, dust-mop, and spot-clean hallway flooring; wipe high-touch surfaces (door handles, light switches, handrails) Clean the student commons/cafeteria as scheduled, including tables, chairs, and serving areas Maintain clean, welcoming entryways, including glass doors and entry mats Perform scheduled floor-machine passes; dust ledges, sills, and display cases Trash & Recycling (Building-Wide) Empty all office and common-area receptacles each shift and replace liners; break down and remove cardboard/recycling to the designated collection area Transport all collected trash to the exterior dumpster; do not allow build-up in interior collection areas Seasonal & Project Work Assist with intensified deep-cleaning during school breaks and summer months (floor stripping and waxing, carpet extraction, window washing, locker cleanout) Support occasional special facility projects and events as assigned Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 40-50 lbs Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout a shift Ability to climb stairs and occasionally work from a ladder or step stool Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment and work around cleaning chemicals, following all posted safety guidelines Work is performed primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions The ideal candidate will: Have prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience (training available for the right candidate) Be dependable and punctual, working independently with minimal supervision during evening hours Take evident pride in the appearance and care of the building Be open to working in team ministry In addition, each applicant will be asked for a background check. This is a part-time, hourly position; benefit eligibility follows school policy based on scheduled hours.
