A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Associate Facilities Manager Overview:
An ideal candidate will be dedicated and detail oriented. Custodians will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful workplace throughout the facility, ensuring a pleasant environment for employees and patrons.
Position Summary:
Part-time Custodians will perform routine janitorial services as well as customized task sets based on various building activities and events at the Schauer Arts & Activity Center (147 N. Rural Street, Hartford). Team members will keep the facility clean and well-maintained year-round.
Schedule:
Work schedule must be flexible and have some nights and/or weekend availability, but may also include some day time shifts. Successful team members will work an average of 20 hours weekly. Supervisor and employee will evaluate what is reasonable and necessary, as workload varies.
Position Responsibilities:
Sweep and wet mop hard surface floors Vacuum carpeted spaces and all building area rugs Complete bathroom cleaning and supply replenishment Garbage removal from all areas of the building to the waste dumpster Interior window cleaning Dusting of building, fixtures, and furnishings Light maintenance to include, but not limited to, light bulb replacement, painting, and minor repairs Secure building, as needed Notify supervisor when major repairs are needed
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 25 pounds. Ability to be standing and performing continuous, repetitive motions majority of all shifts. Basic computer navigation skills required. Previous janitorial experience is preferred. Background check required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Position requires dependability and flexibility, as well as a motivated and efficiency focused mindset. Strength in critical thinking and taking initiative. Must be detail-oriented, team-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic. Should be able to work independently and display a willingness to learn and adapt to changes on short notice. Skills in facilities maintenance would be an asset, but is not required.
