ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform various cleaning duties at Police Department and which include: Collecting trash; vacuuming carpets; cleaning restrooms, kitchen, and breakroom; dusting; washing floors and windows; ensuring that doors and latches are secure; sweeps sally port and garage floor; cleans jail cells; change bedding; shampoo carpets as needed; strip and re-wax tile floors; etc. Maintain and repair the overhead garage doors. Test and maintain emergency generator. Change oil, filters, check and/or change belts, lubricate motors and all moving parts. Test fire alarms. Maintain security cameras. Escort service/repair personnel. Remove, trim, and plant shrubbery. Maintain, plant and weed flower beds. Shovel, snow blow and salt sidewalks and entryways. Spray weeds. Put up and take down seasonal decorations. Pick up litter. Unplug drains, repair faucets, and maintain proper working order of building plumbing. Make sure all doors open, close, lock properly and are secure. Order inventory, obtain online or vendor price quotes for projects and repairs. Escort service/repair personnel and vendors around building for security. Perform other related tasks such as assisting with annual police auction, maintain/order cleaning supplies, move office furniture, replace door locks, change security codes on entrance doors, decorate for the holidays, obtain vendor price quotes for projects and repairs, paint; act as backup for City Hall Maintenance Technician as needed; etc. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

Minimum Required:

High School diploma or GED equivalent

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required:

2-3 years' experience in general building maintenance and repair.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

Minimum Required:

Valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Must continuously meet the minimum requirements for access to CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System). Boiler, plumbing, electrical and HVAC experience preferred. Position requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to perform in an active work environment and handle multiple tasks in an organized and effective manner is required.
