Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated Janitor/Cleaner to join our facilities maintenance team. This vital role involves maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety across various commercial, residential, and industrial environments. The successful candidate will ensure that all spaces are hygienic, well-organized, and compliant with safety protocols, contributing to a healthy and welcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic setting where attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount. Duties Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and disinfecting surfaces to uphold cleanliness standards. Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners efficiently and safely. Handle chemical agents safely by following proper procedures for storage, mixing, application, and disposal to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Conduct heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving furniture, supplies, or equipment. Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to preserve their appearance and longevity. Assist with custodial responsibilities including restocking supplies and maintaining cleaning schedules. Support facilities maintenance activities such as minor repairs or reporting larger issues requiring specialized attention. Follow all safety protocols related to chemical handling, manual handling, and general custodial work to prevent accidents. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally and ensuring a clean environment for all occupants. Participate in ongoing training related to cleaning procedures and safety protocols. Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings is preferred. Familiarity with cleaning techniques including sanitation standards and floor care methods. Experience operating various cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and industrial vacuums. Knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures and proper use of cleaning agents. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while adhering to ergonomic practices. Demonstrated commitment to safety protocol adherence in a custodial or maintenance role. Customer service skills that facilitate positive interactions with building occupants and visitors. Experience in facilities maintenance or general upkeep activities is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina for demanding tasks.
