What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

The Porter does various job duties in the Service Department, applying common sense understanding as well as physical stamina to carry out essential duties. The Porter also maintains a neat appearance and a positive, professional attitude with others including customers. Essential Duties Take out and arrange tires and parts from inside the shop to the outside Service Drive. Return at the end of the business day to inside the shop. Assist Service Advisors in collecting customer's vehicle information; park vehicle in designated area. Maintain neat and organized vehicle arrangement in the parking lot. Take all trash, debris and scrap metal out of shop/building to proper disposal areas. Pick up and deliver of documents between dealership accounting department and service department as needed throughout the day. Pick up and deliver parts to and from Service. Alternate lunch schedule with Service Advisers and assist in answering telephone calls, helping customers, etc. Shuttle customers to their home and/or employer. Clear snow and debris and treat all sidewalks as needed. Road test serviced vehicles; report any issues. Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver's license and good driving record. Ability to use good judgement. Ability to hand machinery safely. Must be able to drive manual transmission Must be able to lift/move 50 - 75 pounds. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
