Job Description

Summary Kemmerer Junior Senior High School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented custodian to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role is essential in supporting the overall functionality of the school and ensuring that all facilities are well-kept and conducive to learning. Responsibilities Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. Ensure that all facilities are stocked with necessary supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Conduct routine inspections of school facilities and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities as needed. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for all staff and students. Assist in the removal of trash and recycling from all areas of the school. Participate in special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning during school breaks or after events. Maintain custodial equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition. Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall cleanliness and functionality of the school. Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus but not required. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safety procedures. Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Must pass a background check as required by school district policies. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
