Job Summary Join our dynamic school environment as a School Custodian, working Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This vital role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for students, staff, and visitors. As a custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the school by performing various janitorial and custodial tasks. Your efforts directly contribute to creating an optimal learning environment and uphold the highest standards of health and safety. This position will work through the summer to help clean the school building and get it ready for students in the fall. Then it continues on through the school year as well. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all school areas. Maintain floors through buffing, stripping, waxing, and other floor care procedures to ensure a polished and safe surface. Conduct routine janitorial tasks such as cleaning restrooms, cafeterias, hallways, classrooms, and common areas with attention to detail. Handle custodial supplies inventory management and ensure proper storage and usage of cleaning materials. Assist with light maintenance tasks including minor repairs, painting touch-ups, and facilities upkeep to support overall building maintenance. Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and extractors efficiently and safely. Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all cleaning and maintenance activities to promote a secure environment for everyone. Qualifications Proven experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or custodial services within commercial or residential settings. Strong knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing surfaces. Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment and commercial cleaning procedures. Previous experience in facilities maintenance or porter roles is highly desirable. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, bending, and reaching. Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Basic knowledge of safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals and equipment use.
