A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Position is open until filled Assignment is Thayne Elementary. 8 hours per day, year round Lincoln County School District #2 JOB
DESCRIPTION CUSTODIAN DEFINITION
Maintain a clean environment for all staff, students and visitors. Ensure all areas are safe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Confer with school administration relative to the maintenance, care, and cleaning of school facilities. Clean and sanitize bathrooms. Clean, mop, wash, buff, and vacuum floors. Empty trash. Maintain outside walk areas including sweeping debris and washing walkways. Clean and polish fixtures. Track and order maintenance supplies. Clean windows. Dust furniture. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of :
Methods, materials, chemicals and equipment utilized in comprehensive cleaning Requirements for maintaining school facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition; OSHA compliant safe working methods and procedures. Ability to : Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must have an adequate range of motion in the upper extremities. This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
