Job Description
Plating & Service Cook Mabel's Market & Bistro | Downtown Davis Mabel's Market & Bistro is looking for a warm, reliable and organized Back of House team member to help us execute our afternoon/evening bistro service. This is a great position for someone who loves food, works well under pressure and has an eye for making every plate look beautiful. Much of our menu is thoughtfully prepared by our morning kitchen team. During service, your job is to finish, assemble and plate dishes consistently and efficiently as orders come in. What You'll Do Set up and organize the kitchen for service Review the day's prepared ingredients and menu items Assemble and beautifully plate dishes prepared by our morning kitchen team Warm or finish menu components as needed Follow recipes, photographs and plating standards so every dish is consistent Coordinate with servers and the front-of-house team to keep service flowing smoothly Check every plate for quality and presentation before it leaves the kitchen Keep the kitchen clean, organized and well stocked throughout service Properly store and label food at the end of the evening Help clean and reset the kitchen for the next day We're Looking for Someone Who Is calm, organized and dependable Has excellent attention to detail Takes pride in making food look beautiful Can work efficiently when several orders arrive at once Communicates well and enjoys being part of a team Understands basic food safety and kitchen sanitation Is willing to learn our menu and our standards Has restaurant or kitchen experience — but extensive cooking experience is not required The Right Person for This Role You don't need to be an aspiring chef. You might be someone who simply loves food, enjoys working with your hands and gets satisfaction from making things look just right. At Mabel's, the morning kitchen team does much of the preparation. Your role is to take those carefully prepared ingredients and turn them into beautiful, delicious plates for our guests. We believe the kitchen and front of house are one team, working toward the same goal: To create such a consistently warm, delicious and memorable experience that guests want to come back again and again.
