Position Overview:
Works under the guidance and direct supervision of the PACE Care Center Supervisor. Coordinates all food services for the PACE Care Center, including breakfast, lunch, home-delivered meals, snacks, special diets, and special events. Oversees daily kitchen operations and staff while ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, nutrition, and CACFP requirements. Supports the nutritional needs of frail elderly participants and ensures meals are prepared and served according to individual nutrition plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, snacks, home meals, catered meals, and special events. Order food, nutritional supplements, emergency food supplies, and other kitchen-related items from vendors and suppliers. Maintain appropriate food inventory and monitor expiration dates, labeling, rotation, storage, refrigeration, and freezer conditions. Supervise and provide direction to kitchen staff and Personal Care Attendants assisting with food preparation and meal service. Oversee preparation of meal plates and snacks and ensure timely distribution to participants. Manage special and therapeutic diets, including pureed, chopped, low-salt, modified-texture, and modified-fluid-consistency diets. Maintain and update special diet lists, nutrition supplement records, meal delivery tickets, participant lists, and other required documentation. Ensure individual nutrition plans are followed and appropriate adaptive feeding equipment is available. Receive, inspect, prepare, and serve catered meals in accordance with food safety standards. Monitor and document daily refrigerator temperatures and other required operational logs. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, refrigerators, freezers, food storage, and supply areas. Complete required cleaning and sanitation logs and address special cleaning needs. Ensure proper food handling, preparation, storage, and serving techniques are consistently followed. Maintain required Food Safety, Sanitation, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) records. Assist with training Personal Care Attendants and kitchen staff on dietary and food service procedures. Attend required meetings and training sessions. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Food Safety Manager Certificate required. BLS certification required. Minimum of 2 years of food preparation experience in any capacity required. Experience working with the elderly population and their families preferred. Experience in a community agency or healthcare setting preferred. Minimum of 1 year of kitchen leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese preferred, depending on location. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with PACE participants. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs. Strong knowledge of food safety and proper food handling techniques. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Patience, compassion, and understanding when working with frail elderly participants.
Physical & Work Environment:
Ability to sit, stand, stoop, reach, bend, and lift up to 10 pounds as needed. Ability to stand for extended periods during food preparation and kitchen activities. Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-related tasks. Hand and wrist dexterity required for computer use. May require travel to other sites, programs, special functions, or external meetings. Work may take place in a climate-controlled day center and outdoors, depending on job duties and events. May be exposed to hot or cold temperatures while performing food service duties. Low risk of contamination when proper Universal Precautions and safety procedures are followed.

$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
