Irvine, CA Job Details $16.90 an hour 22 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Paid sick time Qualifications Blade sharpening Full Job Description The Food Prep position performs routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and sweeping/mopping floors etc. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Comply with prep list and sanitation guidelines Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, etc. Prepare and measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking, as well as prep for Pantry and Line Cooks Set up sanitizer buckets, with towels for station Temperature checks of all walk-in coolers Disinfect prep area surfaces Wash knives and cutting boards, and keep stations clean Check food plating, temperature, and portions for all dishes Sterilize kitchen equipment at the end of your shift Monitor stock and place orders, as needed Restock all necessary items
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School/GED or higher education preferred 1+ year(s) of experience in high-paced kitchen environment preferred Knowledge in storing ingredients preferred Must know how to clean, sharpen, maintain kitchen knives Knowledge of food ingredients preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting, pushing and pulling techniques are required.
BENEFITS OVERVIEW
All employees are offered medical, dental, vision, supplemental life, disability, hospital, and accident insurance. Employees are able to enroll in the company 401k plan after 90 days of employment. Paid sick leave accrues at the rate of 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a carryover cap of 48 hours.
WAGE OVERVIEW
$16.900 + Tips
