EXPERIENCED
Back of House Staff (Kitchen, Dishwasher, Food Prep) -
Part-Time Location:
Pasadena, CA Food Preparation & Cooking Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and preparation standards Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions and prepare food accordingly Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients following recipe specifications Season, cook, plate, and garnish dishes according to company presentation standards Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items for cooking Wash, peel, cut, and prepare ingredients designated for cooking Monitor food during cooking to ensure proper temperature and quality Verify that prepared food meets quality, presentation, and portion requirements Cook multiple orders simultaneously during busy service periods Kitchen Operations Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, burners, fryers, ovens, or other commercial cooking equipment Maintain sufficient stock levels of food products at kitchen stations during service Ensure food products are properly stored, labeled, and rotated to maintain freshness Monitor and regulate kitchen equipment temperatures to ensure safe food preparation Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients Sanitation & Safety Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in all kitchen areas Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, equipment, and utensils Inspect and maintain kitchen workstations to ensure safe food-handling practices Follow all food safety regulations and company policies Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers regularly Wash, sanitize, and polish all dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing areas, service stations, floors, drains, and trash areas Ensure timely availability and restocking of clean items for both kitchen and dining service Assist with bussing, dish return organization, and maintaining guest-facing cleanliness as needed Support general cleaning and organization of kitchen and storage areas Teamwork & Communication Coordinate with front of house staff and fellow kitchen employees to ensure smooth service Assist other kitchen staff during busy service periods or emergencies Attend scheduled employee meetings and provide suggestions for improvement Fill in for coworkers when needed to maintain service standards and operational efficiency Supplemental Responsibilities Plan work on orders so items served together are completed at the same time Assist with food preparation during off-peak periods Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors when supplies are running low Assist with receiving and organizing food deliveries Follow kitchen opening and closing procedures and complete station checklists Assist with training or supporting less experienced kitchen staff when needed Maintain records of food usage or supply needs when required Tools & Equipment Used Kitchen staff may operate or use: Commercial grills, burners, and flat tops Fryers, ovens, and food warmers Refrigeration and freezer equipment Food preparation equipment such as knives, slicers, and cutting tools Dishwashers and sanitation equipment Kitchen scales and measuring tools Requirements Prior kitchen or restaurant experience preferred but not required Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Ability to follow recipes and preparation standards Strong teamwork and communication skills Commitment to maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards Ability to stand for long periods of time, as well as kneel, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs How to Apply Please apply through this posting and include: Resume / Work Experience Shift availability (days and hours) Earliest start date Preferred weekly hours Any additional notes Qualified candidates will be contacted by email to schedule an interview.
