Job Description
We are actively accepting applications and will begin interviewing qualified candidates to fill positions for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a 40-hour/week, Full Time (UNITE) position. New employees shall serve an initial probationary period of 120 workdays, with a review after 60 workdays. Entry level position - minimum 6 months food service experience desired. Must be able to list 60 lbs. to chest height while standing. Ability to stand a minimum of four hours. Ability to prioritize and organize work duties. Ability to follow written or oral directions. Ability to care for, operate, and maintain equipment in daily work to include slicers, dish machines, food processors, fryolators, steamers, grills and other equipment as related to preparation and serving food items. Knowledge of simple record keeping. Duties to include by not limited to the following: Assists with meal service as required. May assist the ICA in receiving and storing delivered items. Strict adherence to all sanitation and food handling procedures. Performs assigned cleaning of areas to include but not limited to the dining hall, kitchen, refrigerators, walls, floors, cabinets, restrooms, and stockrooms. Properly dispose of trash and recyclables. Performs outside clean-up to assigned area as needed to include and not limited to general yard work duties. Operate, care for, and maintain equipment in daily work to include slicers, dish machines, food processors, fryolators, steamers, grills, and other equipment as related to food service. Washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, and pans. Assists chefs and chef assistants in preparation of food items to include but not limited to panning food, grilling, operating fryolators, maintaining sanitation levels in production areas and assembling food items for preparation. Responsible for cleaning and drying laundry items. Communicates well with students, fellow workers and management staff. Assumes same duties in another kitchen as required. Responsible for adhering to health and safety policies and using all safety appliances. Attends meetings as required. Assists in monitoring the Validine machine as needed. Picks up and disposes of trash around exterior of university buildings as needed or assigned. Shovels snow and clears walkways as needed during winter months. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Complies with all University and departmental policies. Does other duties when assigned.
