Food Handler Certification Full Job Description Position Summary:
Carmela Coffee is seeking a motivated, dependable, and team-oriented Kitchen Staff Member to help prepare high-quality food items while supporting overall café operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring food quality, cleanliness, speed of service, and guest satisfaction. As a tipped employee, Kitchen Staff Members share in tip distributions based on company policy and contribute directly to the guest experience.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Execution Prepare menu items according to Carmela Coffee recipes and standards. Assemble sandwiches, breakfast items, salads, pastries, and other food offerings. Maintain consistency, presentation, and portion control. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Kitchen Operations Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workstation. Complete daily prep lists and opening/closing duties. Monitor product freshness and communicate inventory needs. Properly store, label, and rotate food products using FIFO methods. Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries. Guest Experience Support front-of-house operations when needed. Work efficiently during peak business hours. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a welcoming environment. Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent service and food quality. Safety & Compliance Follow all health department regulations. Maintain food handler certification if required. Properly operate kitchen equipment and report maintenance concerns. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Previous kitchen, restaurant, café, or food service experience preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and food quality. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work mornings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Stand for extended periods. Lift up to 50 pounds. Bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the shift. Work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Pay:
$11.50 - $12.50 per hour
