In this lively role, you will support the sushi chefs by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring food safety standards are upheld. Responsibilities Assist sushi chefs with food preparation, including slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients using proper knife skills. Help assemble sushi rolls and nigiri according to established recipes and presentation standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Ensure all food handling procedures comply with food safety regulations to prevent contamination. Support inventory management by restocking ingredients and supplies as needed. Participate in menu planning discussions to suggest fresh ideas and improve dish offerings. Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with kitchen staff and serving team members. Qualifications Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable. Familiarity with food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling practices within a restaurant or food industry setting. Strong knife skills and experience in meal preparation are essential for assisting with sushi assembly. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures is required. Experience in catering or food service roles will be advantageous. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. A passion for culinary arts, especially Japanese cuisine, along with a willingness to learn new skills.
