Job Description
Overview The Taproom @ WonderBread is looking for quick learning, self motivated individuals who are interested in joining a team of dedicated Line Cooks. This job involves working in a team environment to deliver the best possible dining experience to customers through cooking great food. Whether you're passionate about culinary arts, hospitality, or simply love working in a team-oriented setting, this position provides a platform to develop your expertise while contributing to a vibrant food service environment. Paid positions ensure that your dedication is recognized and rewarded every step of the way. Responsibilities Prepare and execute all assigned menu items according to standardized recipes, portioning guidelines, and plating specifications. Maintain consistent quality and timing across all stations, including grill, fry, pizza and oven, as assigned by the kitchen manager. Collaborate with front-of-house and brewing staff to support tap room service during peak hours, events, and brewery-specific programming such as tap takeovers or beer releases. Complete daily tasks in place and ensure station is fully stocked and operational before each service. Rotate, label, and date all food products following FIFO standards; monitor freshness and communicate inventory needs to the sous chef and kitchen manager. Maintain a clean and organized workstation in compliance with Iowa food safety regulations and internal sanitation standards throughout every shift. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, cross-referencing invoices and flagging discrepancies. Follow all kitchen safety protocols including proper knife handling, equipment operation, and allergen awareness. Contribute to end-of-shift breakdown, cleaning assignments, and prep for the next service. Adapt menu execution for brewery-specific pairings, seasonal rotations, and specials developed in collaboration with culinary leadership. Communicate proactively with the kitchen team about any service issues, shortages, or quality concerns. Support a positive and professional kitchen culture consistent with the brewery's brand and guest experience standards. Qualifications Previous experience in food service, restaurant work, or kitchen environments is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key! Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and serve customers professionally. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending comfortably. A passion for hospitality, culinary arts, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
