In this role, you will assist with the preparation and presentation of sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. Your enthusiasm for food service and culinary arts will contribute to creating an enjoyable dining experience for our guests. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen environment while supporting the overall success of our restaurant. Duties Assist with the preparation of sushi ingredients, including slicing fish, vegetables, and other components using proper knife skills. Support the assembly and presentation of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Handle food products safely during storage, preparation, and serving to prevent contamination. Help with meal preparation tasks such as portioning ingredients, garnishing dishes, and setting up workstations for service. Support the culinary team during busy periods by providing efficient food handling and prep assistance. Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, kitchen equipment use, and hygiene practices to uphold high standards of quality. Qualifications Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is essential. Experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures is important. Familiarity with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering practices will be advantageous. Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic culinary techniques are a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting colleagues in food service operations.
