Neighborhood House Association is seeking a full-time Kitchen Assistant for its busy, high volume kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant will also act as a Meals on Wheels driver as needed. The position is 6:00a.m. to 2:00pm., Monday through Friday. The first main duty of this position is helping the kitchen staff prepare, cook, and serve meals to meet requirements of all programs. This includes ensuring food is cooked properly, has good presentation, and is ready for timely delivery and service, while maintaining compliance with health department standards. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the assisting with coverage of open Meals On Wheels routes, delivering meals on an as-needed basis. A reliable personal vehicle will be required for all transportation purposes within the scope of this position.

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum one year experience in quantity food preparation Food Manager Certification Two years of driving experience, preferably on professional basis Ability to operate a motor vehicle with valid driver's license Pass a criminal background check and have a clean driving record Own an operational, licensed, and insured vehicle with minimum of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury & $100,000 property coverage Ability to effectively interact and work with diverse staff and community Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse staff and community Ability to maintain client, employee, and program confidentiality Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

POSITION ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Prepare and cook meals to meet requirements of all food service programs Assure that daily nutrition requirements are fulfilled per funding and regulatory sources Ensure that food is cooked properly, has good presentation, correct serving proportions, and ready for timely delivery & service Assure that all food is stored properly and labeled with correct date & time Maintain compliance with Peoria County Health Department inspection standards Maintain clean kitchen surface areas and equipment during and after meal preparation Maintain food and supply inventories for the youth feeding programs Deliver meals in the exact order printed on delivery route sheets, Assess each client daily and report any change or emergency to MOW Director or Assistant Record all undeliverable meals onto route sheet and submit daily to MOW Director or Assistant Submit all collected money contributed by program participants to MOW Director or Assistant Complete all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner Clean all coolers and delivery equipment after completion of daily route

POSITION ANCILLARY DUTIES

Meal prep for upcoming meal service days Deliver meals to off-site programs in absence of regular delivery staff Assist the Dishwasher with cleaning and storing dishes/equipment as needed Remain flexible to changes in schedule Perform other duties as assigned Neighborhood House is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) according to Title 44, Ill.
