Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Sushi Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will assist with the preparation and presentation of sushi, ensuring all food safety standards are met while supporting the kitchen staff in delivering high-quality Japanese cuisine. Your enthusiasm and commitment to cleanliness, food handling, and teamwork will contribute to creating a delightful dining experience for our guests. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop culinary skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment dedicated to excellence. Responsibilities Assist with food preparation including slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques Support the culinary team in assembling sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including sanitizing utensils, cutting boards, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations Operate kitchen equipment such as sushi rollers, knives, and refrigeration units safely and efficiently Follow food handling procedures diligently to ensure safety standards are upheld during meal preparation and service Help with menu planning support by preparing ingredients as directed by chefs or kitchen managers Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, ensure timely meal prep, and uphold quality standards Experience Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Food service or restaurant experience demonstrating familiarity with food safety management and meal preparation techniques is highly valued Knowledge of culinary practices including knife skills, slicing techniques, and food handling procedures is advantageous Experience operating kitchen equipment safely within a food industry setting is desirable Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and maintain a smooth workflow Prior catering or food industry experience that emphasizes safety standards in production will be considered a plus Join us to be part of a passionate team dedicated to delivering authentic sushi experiences!
