Job Description

Our Kitchen Assistants work in a fast-paced environment preparing and serving nutritious meals to students to support student learning. The Food Service department works school days only
  • no nights, weekends, or holidays!
The hours are 7am-1:30pm Monday through Friday. A Day In The Life Prepare healthy and appealing food Utilize sound sanitation standards to meet district, state, and federal guidelines Serve food so that students and staff receive their food in a timely and friendly manner Assist in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food service program (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning, organizing) Track inventory and communicate with the manager Monitor temperatures of foods, dishwasher, etc ensuring HACCP compliance Maintain confidentiality Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the food service program Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations Profile of a Successful Candidates Pass a background check Have a current TB test Team player Ability to work in a fast paced environment Basic math and computer skills Knowledge of state health regulations High school diploma or equivalent Food Safety Basics-State Department of Education Kitchen experience recommended Can spend the day standing (80%) and walking (20%), lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling Fine finger dexterity used Environment Each school has a commercial kitchen Temperatures vary from extremely hot to extremely cold (freezer) Can be noisy and crowded Perks of Working for Maize USD 266 School schedule
