$16.00-$19.00/hour (based on experience) Gulu-Gulu Café & Bar is looking for an experienced cook to join us in line and prep. We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in their work, and understands that every plate contributes to the guest experience. We're a bohemian café, cocktail bar, craft beer destination, music venue, and community gathering space in the heart of Salem. Every day we serve a diverse group of guests from differing backgrounds who come to us for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, live music, and everything in between. While our menu is intentionally approachable, we take pride in preparing much of our food from scratch and serving it with consistency, care, and attention to detail. We believe great hospitality doesn't start when a guest sits down. It starts in the kitchen, with people who care about quality, consistency, and making every plate something they're proud to send out. What You'll Do This is a cross-trained position that combines both line cooking and food preparation. Depending on the shift, you may: Prepare fresh ingredients and recipes for daily service Cook breakfast, sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, and other menu items Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen Work efficiently during busy service while maintaining quality and consistency Help receive and organize deliveries Work closely with the rest of the kitchen and front-of-house teams to create a great guest experience What We're Looking For Previous kitchen experience is required Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Pride in producing consistent, high-quality food Strong teamwork and communication skills Reliability and a willingness to learn A positive attitude and desire to contribute to a supportive kitchen culture Schedule Our kitchen is open from 8am until 8pm/9pm depending on the day. We do our best to provide consistent schedules (AM, PM, or swing shifts) and aim to give everyone two consecutive days off whenever possible. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
