Job Description

PRCC Child Development Lab School Kitchen Assistant/Floater Location:
Poplarville Overview:
To assist in the care of preschool children as directed. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen while assisting with meal and snack preparation for children
Responsibilities & Performance Required:
Assist with preparing and serving meals and snacks for children Follow daily menus and portion guidelines set by the center Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, pantry, and storage areas Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergy protocols Monitor food and supply inventory and report low stock to the director Safely handle food and equipment according to health and safety regulations Float among each preschool class, as needed, to assist teachers in monitoring children
Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old High School Diploma or Equivalency OR Previous experience in food preparation, kitchen work, or childcare food service (preferred) OR ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) OR 3 years prior documented experience caring for children who are under 13 years of age and who are not related to the caregiver within the third degree computed according to civil law Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices Good time management and organizational skills Team player with strong communication skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment Background check clearance as required for childcare settings
Physical Requirements:
Be able to lift, bend, squat, and carry up to 30 pounds Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
