This standard was upheld through the expansion into Sports and Entertainment Hospitality Services by providing elevated concessions and premium offerings to collegiate stadiums, PGA golf tournaments, International Boat Shows, Professional Sports Teams, & more. Proof of the Pudding, operator of DUKE University athletics' food & beverage program, is looking for Stewards that will be responsible for a wide range of tasks to help ensure efficient overall operations of the changing event logistics and business needs. Work assignments and tasks can change daily based on the immediate needs of the event calendar at DUKE University's athletic events. We are offering competitive pay and on-the-job training at one of the most scenic venues in North Carolina. This is seasonal/part-time work as business needs are dictated by athletic events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes, and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized. Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks. Maintains clean / dry floors throughout the shift. Properly washes, stacks, and stores China, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers. Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required by business levels, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by EcoLab. Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries. Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift. Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves. Assist with maintaining and organizing China and warehouse. Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties. Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed. Performs other related duties as required. Education and/or
Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred Ability to follow directions. Must be a phenomenal team player. 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred, experience in customer service role is preferred. ServSafe Certified preferred.
Specialized Qualifications:
Planning and multi-tasking Self-motivated with a high energy level Flexibility to work events, weekends, nights, and holidays. Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Work Environment The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will often move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains. Uniform Requirements Adherence to Company Uniform Requirements outlined in the Associate Handbook, uniform requirements outlined in your orientation guidelines. Non-slip shoes are needed.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of moving through kitchen, coolers, and storage spaces. Traveling throughout the event space in different terrains. Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to lifting up-to 30 pounds at times. Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives. Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
