Expected Hiring Range:
$52,615 - $59,192 Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications Under direction, supervises, monitors, and coordinates personnel, daily operation and maintenance activities of the Town's Parks & Recreation Department, Aquatics division. Assists with personnel actions such as selection, promotion, discipline, and evaluations. Assists Aquatics Manager in aquatics program planning and teaches aquatic programs. Assists in monitoring facility operations to assure compliance with state and federal operations and safety guidelines. Assists in preparing, updating, and distributing a variety of communications regarding aquatics programs. Assists in the maintenance of the pool facility, including pump room equipment, scheduling repairs and chemical treatments. Inventories supplies and equipment for classes, programs and special events. Maintains appropriate supplies for (concessions, janitorial, chemicals, and safety) assigned areas and maintains a neat and orderly work area. Maintains records, reports and balances daily attendance, maintenance, and facility usage. Ensures the health and safety of employees and patrons. Provides customer service and answers questions, complaints or concerns. Responds to emergency situations by performing First Aid, CPR and/or Lifeguard Training Rescues/Techniques. Assists with personnel actions such as selection, promotion, discipline, and evaluations. Supervises the day-to-day activities including communicating, scheduling work, training, evaluating, and motivating staff.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision. Ability to plan and implement department and swimming pool practices and procedures. Knowledge of customer service techniques and methods. Knowledge of management and/or supervision principles and possession of strong leadership skills. Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures. Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation techniques. Knowledge of Town and Department policies and procedures. Skill in responding to emergency situations including safely rescuing drowning victims and administering CPR and First Aid. A High School diploma or GED. Four (4) years' experience in the aquatics field. Three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity. Experience with commercial or municipal pool maintenance. Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Must possess Emergency Oxygen Administration training and Certified Pool Operator training. Must possess at time of application and maintain Lifeguard Training, First Aid, Oxygen, and Automated External Defibrillation certifications. Must be certified as a Certified Pool Operator through Pima County, (or obtain 90 days after employment date). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Lifeguard Training Instructor certification is preferred. Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Regular and reliable attendance; may work more than forty hours in a workweek without additional compensation to perform assigned job duties, including weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
