S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Help Level 1: NF-02 Lifeguard Trainee This is an entry level position for those hires without current certificions. Once certificion is complete, they may be non-competitively transferred to the next level. This level does not perform any lifeguarding duties until certified and must complete all such trainning within 30 days of hire. Level 2: NF-02 Lifeguard Responsible for safeguarding the lives of all prons the facility. Cautions pron regarding unsafe practices or conditions. Informs and educes prons and staff regarding common aquic risks and consequences. Employs preventive measures whenever possible to minimize risks. Rescues and/or assists swimmers in danger and administers emergency first aid until qualified medical assistance is present. Maintains order, enforces pool rules/regulions as approprie. Provides reliable informion regarding aquic facilities, hours of operion and programs. Advises prons of unsafe conditions and gives approprie instructions to avoid hazardous area. Reports any unsafe conditions concerning equipment, supplies, facility, pool or other areas to immedie supervisor and protects prons and staff from same. Follows established guidelines for communicion and emergency procedures including preparion of accident/incident reports when necessary. Performs routine swimming pool chemical and temperure readings. Performs housekeeping duties such as scrubbing pool deck, sides and gutter, cleaning bhhouse, restrooms, shower stalls. locker room, office and classroom areas. When required, contacts PWC/Staff Civil Engineering (SCE) to have minor repairs made. Completes daily log for all tasks accomplished. May open and close facility and/or prepare facility for scheduled activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Level 3: NF-02 Lifeguard/Wer Safety Instructor (WSI) Responsible for instructing and teaching various swimming skills, styles and basic diving to various age groups. Maintains tendance rosters and prepares progress reports on participants enrolled in the class. Responsible for safeguarding prons the facility. Cautions participants regarding unsafe practices or conditions. Informs and educes prons and staff regarding common aquic risks and consequences. Employs preventive measures whenever possible to minimize risks. Rescues and assists swimmers in danger and administers first aid as required until more advanced assistance arrives. Maintains order, enforces pool rules/regulions as approprie. Monitors activity in pool and deck area to prevent accidents and stop boisterous play. Caution swimmers, takes charge in emergencies. Reports unsafe conditions concerning equipment, supplies, facility, pool or other areas to immedie supervisor and protect prons and staff from same. Follows established guidelines for communicion and emergency procedures including preparion of accident/incident reports when necessary. Performs swimming pool temperure and chemical readings. Maintains daily log with the results of the testing. Notifies supervisor of problems with chemical levels and of need of pool supplies. Performs housekeeping duties to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and sanition. This may include scrubbing the pool deck, sides and gutter, vacuuming pool, bhhouse, locker rooms, office and classroom cleaning. When approprie, contacts PWC/SCE to have minor repairs made. Completes log for all tasks accomplished. Performs opening and closing duties of facility and prepares facility for scheduled activities. Provides informion regarding aquic facilities, hours of operion and programs. Attends all in-service training, NAVOSH classes and other training as instructed. Maintains all certificions in a current stus. Performs reled tasks as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verificion check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigion. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, without a fixed schedule. When outdoors sun and eye irrition exposure may occur. Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, le shift, evenings, weekends and holidays when the need arises. Level 1: Must obtain the following certificion within 30 days of hire: Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional and Standard First Aid by the American Red Cross or equivalent. Wearing of protective clothing and equipment may be required as situions warrant. May be required to lift and carry swimmers varying in weight and size. Must be ready to respond to emergency situions all times. Qualificions Level 1: NF-02 Lifeguard Trainee Must perform a 300-yard continuous swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or combinion of both. Swimming in the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. Must tread wer for two (2) minutes without support and without stopping. When treading, only the legs can be used. Candides should place their hands under the armpits. The head must remain above the surface of the wer. Must swim distance of 20 yards with a 10-pound object a depth of seven (7) to ten (10) feet. Goggles are not allowed for this event. Within one (1) minute and forty (40) seconds, must be able to do all of the following: swim 20 yards, starting in the wer (the face may be out of the wer), surface dive, feet first or head-first, to a depth of seven (7) to ten (10) feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim twenty (20) yards to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face or near the surface so they are able to get a breh (may not swim the distance under wer), exit the wer without using a ladder or steps. Level 2: NF-02 Lifeguard Must be currently certified n Lifeguard Training/CPR for the Professional (Title 22) and Standard First Aid by the American Red Cross or equivalent. Ability to pass both a skills and written test and swim 300 yards. Ability to size up emergencies and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to communice both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and comprehend rules, regulions, policies and procedures. Ability to maintain excellent public relions and capably exercise control over a group of people. Uses tact when interacting with the public and staff. Understands, practices and teaches wer safety, emergency response and life support. Level 3: NF-02 Lifeguard/Wer Safety Instructor (WSI) Must be currently certified n Lifeguard Training/CPR for the Professional (Title 22) and Standard First Aid by the American Red Cross or equivalent. Ability to pass both a skills and written test and swim 500 yards. Successfully demonstres swimming technique for basic strokes. Ability to size up emergencies and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to communice both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and comprehend rules, regulions, policies and procedures. Ability to maintain excellent public relions and capably exercise control over a group of people. Uses tact when interacting with the public and staff. Understands, practices and teaches wer safety, emergency response, self-survival and life support. Knowledge, practice and compliance with safe handling, storage and disposal policies reled to hazardous merials and bio-hazardous merials. Routinely uses personal protection equipment provided.
