LIFEGUARD II

"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. The reporting location for this position is San Clemente State Beach in San Clemente, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the State Parks Peace Officer (Lifeguard). The Lifeguard II (LG II) duties include detecting and performing aquatic rescues on the beach, assisting person and vessels in distress, performing medical aides and resuscitation measures per DPR protocols and procedures, and preventing aquatic emergencies by making safety contacts and identifying hazards. The LG II may take incident command during aquatic emergencies, notify peace officers of observed criminal activity, notify supervisors of park incidents, prepare reports, contact visitors, communicate rules and regulations, and provide education and interpretation. The LG II will operate the patrol truck and rescue watercraft. The LG II must work effectively with the entire lifeguard, visitor services, and maintenance staff to carry out the Department's mission, goals, and values. The LG II is expected to be available to work full time during the peak-use period of Memorial Day to Labor Day. The LG II is expected to work most weekends and holidays during this timeframe. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. The Maintenance Aide reporting location is Chino Hills State Park, located at 4721 Sapphire Road, Chino Hills, CA 91709. The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. All parks listed are managed by a State Park Superintendent V and further organized into the following functions: Visitor Services, Aquatic Services, Maintenance Services, and Administrative Services. The Maintenance Aide works under the immediate supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor and under the direction of the on-duty Maintenance Lead Worker. The Maintenance Aide's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to customer service, facility and equipment maintenance, administration, and other related duties. The Park Aide will perform the duties dressed in full State Park uniform and follow the required grooming standards of the department. The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be in good condition at the start of the workday. Due to a heavy visitor attendance, the Maintenance Aide position is required to work weekends and holidays. The work shift for the Maintenance Aide is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with days off set after Maintenance Aide is hired. This position can work 189 days in a 12 consecutive month period or a maximum of 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months per California Code of Regulation 265.1 .
