The Lifeguard plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and dynamic aquatic environment. This individual is responsible for clearly communicating pool guidelines, proactively guiding members away from unsafe situations, and championing the safe and enjoyable use of the pool. Purpose and Impact:

Lead With Safety:

Maintain vigilant surveillance, enforce aquatic safety standards, and provide clear direction that helps swimmers feel secure and supported.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Age:

15 and a half with a valid work permit.

Experience & Skills:

Prior swim experience required. Experience in customer service and aquatics preferred. Excellent communication skills essential.

Certifications:

YMCA, Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (training provided and paid for by the YMCA). First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA). Completion of in-water skills swimming and skills test required.
