THIS IS NOT A SUMMER SEASONAL POSITION!
!! Preference given to those available during the normal school day September to June and Weeknights. This is a great flexible position for students to work around classes and sports. Applicants must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard (Deep Water) Certification to apply.

Job Summary:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons in and around the aquatic facility. This role includes monitoring activities, responding to emergencies, and enforcing facility rules.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Surveillance:
Continuously monitor the pool area to ensure the safety of all patrons.
Emergency Response:
Act swiftly in emergencies, performing rescues and providing care within the scope of training.
Incident Reporting:
Complete all required paperwork when an incident occurs, ensuring accurate documentation.
Enforce Rules:
Proactively enforce all pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.
Locker Room Patrol:
Monitor and patrol locker rooms to ensure safety and compliance.
Station Rotation:
Follow proper station rotation, as outlined in the posted Visual Guide and Lifeguard Policies and Procedures Manual.
Adjustments:
Based on the current schedule, programming, and bather load, make reasonable adjustments to lifeguard station positions and pool layout.
Chemical Testing:
Complete patron count sheets every 30 minutes and test pool chemicals as required, primarily at the start of each shift.
Safety Monitoring:
Watch for unsafe situations and respond or notify supervisors as necessary.
Facility Maintenance:
Keep the pool deck clear and safe by picking up equipment and garbage as needed.
Health Concerns:
Notify the Pool Director if chemical readings are outside the required levels or if the pool has health and safety concerns.
Certification Maintenance:
Maintain a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.
Respectful Interaction:
Treat other staff members and the public respectfully, fostering a positive environment. Calmness in

Keep calm and adhere to training protocols.
Qualifications:
Certification:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification.
Age Requirement:
Minimum of 16 years of age.
Competency:
Ability to demonstrate competency in all lifeguarding skills when requested.
Responsibility:
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in all duties.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Possess solid problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected situations.
Communication:
Must communicate respectfully with staff and the public.
Enforcement Skills:
Ability to stand firm while enforcing pool rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Adequate eyesight, hearing, physical condition, and sound judgment to perform all required duties effectively.
Working Conditions:
Environment:
Work may be outdoors or indoors, depending on the facility, water, and weather conditions.
Hours:
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, Weekdays 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Schedule:
Average of 12 to 29 hours per week; shifts assigned as needed to maintain proper coverage. Experience Valid Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with current First Aid, CPR, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certifications Demonstrated ability to perform swimming duties confidently and efficiently in various water conditions
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
