SEASONAL LIFEGUARDS - WINDHAM RECREATION DEPARTMENT

Willimantic, CT The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Seasonal Lifeguard. This is a part-time position. The department needs to cover the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays; and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The rate of pay is $19.00/hr. Under the general direction of the Recreation Director, and the direct supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, the Seasonal Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and well-being of swimmers and patrons, enforcing beach and pool regulations for the Town's swimming pool and Lauter Park beachfront. The essential functions include maintaining discipline in and around the swimming areas; conducting rescue operations; administering CPR and First Aid; directing communication and contact with the swimmers and general public; writing reports; preparing the pool and waterfront for aquatic programs and activities; cleaning and maintenance of pool deck and surrounding swim areas. The position requires independent judgment, initiative, maturity, observation, and communication skills. Must be 16 years of age or older; plus volunteer or work experience with children, teens, adults, and senior citizens, desired. Must possess a current American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) Certification; ARC Waterfront Lifeguarding (for summer-only waterfront). ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification, desired. Swim Lessons (for children) teaching experience, desired. Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
