Job Description The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is seeking an energetic and safety-focused Aquatics Coordinator to support daily aquatics operations, staff leadership, and member experience. Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, this position helps oversee lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatic programming while ensuring a safe and welcoming pool environment for all participants. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred. Minimum one year of experience in aquatics, recreation, lifeguarding, pool operations, or related field. Experience supervising staff and coordinating schedules preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to enforce policies professionally. Knowledge of pool operations and water testing procedures preferred. Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, CPR/AED, Oxygen Administration, and Swim Instructor certification required. Lifeguard Instructor and Swim Instructor Trainer certifications preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days). Essential Functions Support daily operations of the Aquatics Department, including lifeguard coverage, scheduling, and deck supervision. Assist with recruiting, training, onboarding, and developing aquatics staff. Lead and coordinate monthly lifeguard in-service trainings and ongoing staff development. Ensure compliance with all YMCA safety standards, pool regulations, certifications, and required documentation. Respond to member questions and concerns and provide leadership support in the absence of the Aquatics Director. Assist with program operations, participation tracking, special events, and community engagement activities. Provide direct support as needed through lifeguarding, swim instruction, and program coverage.
