Job Description

Our Caldwell YMCA is seeking a Water Group Exercise Instructor to join our Aquatics Team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, friendly, and helpful atmosphere for members participating in water group exercise classes. The Caldwell YMCA opened its doors on October 27, 2005. Since that time it has become a hallmark of the community, impacting the lives of thousands of kids and families. Facility amenities include a large cardio and weight floor, full-court basketball gym, three fitness studios, and a state-of-the-art aquatics center including a lap-pool, splash pad, pretzel slide, and lazy-river.
Schedule:
this is a part-time position averaging 10 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are flexible based on availability. Pay is $18.30-$22.88 per class.
Responsibilities:
Develop intentional relationships and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.

Use the class platform to educate and inform participants about other Y program offerings.

Conduct class in a quality, fun, and safe manner that results in increased attendance. Follow fitness trends and utilize prescribed formats when applicable.

Actively identify participants who need additional support, such as new members, health seekers, and participants with diverse abilities.

Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants.

Provide excellent delivery of water group exercise instruction to all members.
Qualifications:
Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.

Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.

Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
Required Certifications:
We will support you in this journey if you don't have these currently! Basic Life Support (BLS) - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.

First Aid - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.

Emergency Oxygen - Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period.

Y Aquatic Safety Assistant (YASA)- Prerequisite upon hire - 90-day compliance period.

Approved Water Fitness Certification - Prerequisite upon hire - 90-day compliance period.
