Swim Instructor Job Description
Current group lessons are scheduled for Thursday evenings. Privates are scheduled based on the instructor availability. Hands on instructor training available as well as certifications. Location 205 Rec Plex Dr O'Fallon, IL 62269 Accountabilities Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants, so they can meet course objectives. Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe. Cover all material required in a level. Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules and regulations Complete records and reports Participate in regular in-service training sessions Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Competencies Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills. Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills. An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures. Leadership and public relations skills. Communication skills. Decision-making skills. An ability to interact and communicate well with others is essential. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively. Part Time, Hourly Facility Information McKendree Metro Rec Plex is a premiere membership based recreation facility in O'Fallon IL. The complex serves as an athletic conditioning and training center for the McKendree University Water Polo, Diving, Swimming and Ice Hockey teams. The youth athletic organization Southern Illinois Ice Hawks & Metro Rec Plex SeaHawks call the complex home. Several high school teams also utilize the facility for games & practices both on the ice & in the pool. The facility includes a comprehensive workout facility including an elevated walking track, a variety of cardio equipment, a complete weight room, half court basketball court as well as fitness classrooms for all types of workout classes. The McKendree MetroRecPlex also offers many programs like PlexSkate, PlexSwim, PLEX Kids After School/Summer Camp, figure skating & hockey coaching and personal training.
