On-the-job training provided Position Summary The Paris-Bourbon County YMCA is seeking dependable, safety-focused individuals to join our Aquatics team as Lifeguards. Lifeguards help maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for YMCA members and guests while monitoring all activities in and around the pool. Previous lifeguarding experience is not required. The YMCA will provide on-the-job training and support qualified candidates in completing required lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications. Essential Responsibilities Actively monitor the pool and surrounding areas to protect swimmers and prevent accidents. Enforce YMCA pool rules and safety procedures consistently and respectfully. Respond quickly and appropriately during emergencies. Perform water rescues, CPR, First Aid, and other emergency procedures when necessary. Complete required safety checks and maintain accurate records. Keep the pool deck and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Provide friendly and professional customer service to members, guests, and families. Communicate concerns or incidents promptly to Aquatics management. Participate in required staff meetings, training sessions, and emergency drills. Support the YMCA's mission, values, and commitment to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong swimming ability and comfort working in and around water. Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the scheduled shift. Dependable, responsible, and able to respond calmly in an emergency. Willingness to complete all required lifeguard and safety training. Ability to work flexible day shifts and weekends. Must meet all applicable age and certification requirements. Ability to communicate respectfully with children, adults, coworkers, and families. Previous lifeguarding or aquatic experience is helpful but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to swim, tread water, and perform water-rescue skills. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while continuously monitoring the pool. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and assist individuals during an emergency. Ability to hear and respond to whistles, alarms, and calls for assistance. Ability to work in a warm, humid, and occasionally noisy aquatic environment. Why Work at the Paris-Bourbon County YMCA? Pay:
$10.00 - $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 20.0 per week
