Baton Rouge, LA Job Details Seasonal 8 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Full Job Description Position Characteristics Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and coordination of senior aquatic activities for the clients participating in swimming activities. The Lifeguard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe recreational environment. Strict adherence to safety protocols and constant vigilance are essential to success in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on the Aging, Inc. ?serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible.? Monitor swimmers and surrounding areas to always ensure safety Enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies Perform water rescues, administer first aid, CPR, and AED as needed Conduct routine inspections of the pool area and equipment Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility Provide excellent customer service and assist clients as needed Report incidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions to management Participate in regular training sessions and drills Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization (e.g., Red Cross) Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED Strong swimming skills and physical fitness Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused for extended periods Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Working Conditions:
Work is performed outdoors in aquatic environments Exposure to varying weather conditions Requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and swimming May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays
