In this role, you'll: Help children and families reach their full potential through aquatics programs Build a culture of safety, confidence, and teamwork Lead and inspire a team of lifeguards and swim staff who embody our core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility ? ️ What You'll Do Lead Exceptional Aquatics Programs Ensure all aquatic activities are safe, engaging, and aligned with YMCA standards Champion water safety through swim testing, education, and community outreach Help create a fun, welcoming environment that keeps members coming back Inspire & Develop Your Team Recruit, train, and mentor a team of lifeguards and aquatics staff Build confidence through ongoing in-services and hands-on coaching Lead by example—demonstrating professionalism, vigilance, and teamwork Ensure Safety & Operational Excellence Maintain a clean, safe, and well-equipped aquatic facility Oversee scheduling, certifications, and essential documentation Support emergency preparedness and ensure staff are always rescue-ready Be a Community Champion Promote aquatics programs and water safety initiatives Collaborate with branch leadership and community partners Represent the YMCA mission through every interaction ? Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Team Leader Certification from Y-USA (or be actively working towards)
- YMCA provides training
- Must acquire and maintain certification with the following and within required timelines: Ellis LG & LGI, American Red Cross WSI or WSIT, Vanguard Aquatics Supervisor Training Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience, supervisory experience preferred Must be physically able to teach aquatic lessons and lift an adult male from the pool to the pool deck Complete program specific and employee orientation training by required timeline.
