Job Description

Lifeguards are needed full time and part time year-round (Framingham) and Summer season (Summer Lifeguards in Hopkinton) at the MetroWest YMCA and must be 16 years or older with current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. Year round lifeguards needed for the following: Mondays 5:45-8:15pm and 6:00-9:15pm; Tuesdays 5:45-8:15pm; Wednesdays 4:45-9:00AM and 6:00-9:15pm; Thursdays 5:45-10:00AM, 5:45-8:15pm and 6:00-9:15pm; Fridays 4:45-9:00AM and 6:00-9:15pm; Saturdays 6:45-10:00AM, noon-4:00pm, and 4:00-7:15pm; and Sundays 4:00-7:15pm. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. Pay up to $22.00 per hour based upon experience, plus opportunity for an additional $2.00 per hour premium to work weekend shifts! Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. Is proactive in injury prevention. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and during shift. Cleans pool deck area when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action. Requires ability and desire to interact with and provide service to people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.' '
