POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Responsible for maintaining the safety of the fitness center by cleaning equipment, putting away equipment, and ensuring members follow all current regulations as posted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Acknowledge members with a friendly greeting or smile. Deep clean facilities (mirrors, walls, railings, etc.) and fitness equipment (seats, frames, small spaces, etc.) Keep spray bottles and paper towel dispensers filled. Return weights, kettlebells, bars, cable attachments and other equipment to proper locations. Notifies wellness staff, welcome desk, or building supervisor of members who are in violation of policies. Escalate recurring issues with members to fitness director. Attend mandatory staff meetings and participants in training. Complete and stay current with required safety training.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications should be completed upon arrival or within 90 days of hire. Exceptional customer service, verbal communication and ability to stay calm in stressful situations. Understands the mission of the YMCA and the four core values.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Standing, walking, bending, and lifting are 90% of the shift. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency. Daily activities include reaching, lifting, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping. This position is to deep clean equipment and wellness facilities. We are looking for a candidate that can work from 12pm - 4pm on Friday or Saturday. Other shifts may be available on an as needed basis.
